Sound is the new oil

Who is this lecture for?

This lecture is for companies who are interested in the benefits that come from having a greater understanding of and focus on the sound aspect in an experience or design. It can be for those who are already using sound in their products/services and want to make sure their usage of sound is beneficial for the users, or for those who are interested in knowing how including sound would affect the user experience and how to do it in the best manner.

The lecture may be of particular interest for people working with:

  • Automotive
  • Health Care
  • Public Safety
  • Ecommerce
  • SaaS / Software / App Development

What is the format?

It's a 30 minute presentation, then we can have a Q&A session right after. We'll have a wide level run through the various roles sound can play in an experience and how that affects the users as well as your brand. An introduction to important aspects when communicating around, finding, designing, and using sound.

Why do you need this?

The purpose of the lecture is to plant a seed which could lead to further exploration of how to implement sound in your designs. By having an understanding of the potential effects and benefits of using sound, and using it correctly, it can improve the user experience as well as brand experience, positioning your brand and products on the market.

What are the business benefits of a good sound experience?

  • Better products. By adding the sound element it will elevate the user experience, possibly leading to a higher retention rate.
  • Brand identity. Completing the visual design with sound strengthens the brand experience.
  • Positioning. Sound is still a rare element in designs, so by having an understanding of why and how to use sound you will get an advantage among your competitors.

What do you receive?

After the lecture you will get a copy of the presentation deck; plus a recording of the presentation including Q&A session.

How long does this take?

30 minutes + time for a Q&A.

Who will be carrying this out?

The lecture will be held by Jonatan Thomasson, UX designer here at Humblebee who has a background in sound design.
